LAVENDER GARDENS IN KONYA BECOME A NATURAL STUDIO FOR PHOTO ENTHUSIASTS

Karatay Lavender Garden, which was created by Karatay Municipality in 2019 by planting more than 100 thousand seedlings on an area of 90 thousand square meters in Karaaslan Üzümcü Mahallesi, received full marks from the citizens. Citizens of all ages and walks of life used many objects placed among thousands of Lavenders as decorations and enjoyed the environment created by the unique purple color, and became a natural studio for photography enthusiasts.

Karatay Municipality Lavender Garden has been overflowing since the day it opened its doors to the citizens. The 90 thousand square meter area where lavender was planted in Karaaslan Üzümcü Neighborhood became a natural studio for photography enthusiasts.

         Photographers try to capture the most beautiful shots, using lavender in different shades of magenta and purple as a backdrop in the gardens, which are frequented by citizens as well as professional and amateur photographers.

Visitors wait in line to take pictures in the Lavender Gardens with decorations created with special objects and eye-catching colors.

Thousands of citizens who stopped by the Lavender Garden, are having an unforgettable day at the buffet, viewing terraces, walking paths and many other points of the garden, created by the Karatay Municipality teams, using the swing, nostalgic mini tractor, bridge, hay bales, water well and many other objects placed among the lavenders.

YOUNG GIRLS' VIOLIN RECITAL AT THE LAVENDER GARDEN WAS GREATLY ACCOMPLISHED

In addition to thousands of citizens who want to spend quality time, some couples who are preparing for marriage also prefer Karatay Lavender Garden to make a marriage proposal, take engagement or wedding photos.

Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Theology student Şeyma Ekin gave her violin recital in Karatay Lavender Garden. Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca also thanked the young artist by sharing the tiny concert of Şeyma Ekin, who played the piece "Duydum ki unutmuşsun -  Heard that you forgot", on their social media accounts.

WE HOST 50,000 VISITORS IN ONE WEEK

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca said that the interest in Lavender Gardens is increasing day by day. Stating that they turned the area covered with rubble heaps into an eye-catching beauty two years ago, Kılca said that their biggest goal is to contribute to urban tourism.

Expressing that they host thousands of visitors a day, Mayor Hasan Kılca said:

“We hosted about 50 thousand visitors in a week. It gets very busy, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. After the weddings, our brides and grooms come and shoot.”

Pointing out that especially photographers are in great demand, Hasan Kılca stated the following:

“We receive very positive feedback from the photographers who come here. With the materials we placed in the garden, we created very beautiful areas where you can take pictures. Our guests immortalize the most beautiful moments here. Those who come are catching very nice frames in beautiful scents. I think we add beauty to the beauty of our city”

Reminding that the medicinal and aromatic plant lavender with high added value is suitable for drought-resistant and barren lands, Kılca said that they also aim to offer an alternative and useful product to the farmers.

Photographer Mustafa Binol also stated that the soil and the flowering area presented by the purple plant form offers very beautiful shots for photography.

“Bird houses, bridges and swings have been built for both visual beauty and for people to take souvenir photos. When we think of it as a park with its visuals and smells, it is a wonderful place and a very rich studio in terms of photography,” said Binol. He noted that it is an area that will attract the attention of photographers.

Explaining that the garden creates a very beautiful view especially at sunrise and sunset, Binol said: “On behalf of the photographers, I would like to thank those who brought this place to our city. It is a wonderful place”.

Hatice Çiftçioğlu, one of the visitors of the garden, stated that they came to have a graduation photo taken and said: “My sister finished high school in Sweden. I graduated last year. My nephew also graduated this year. Since we graduated recently, we came here to have a graduation photo together to celebrate it. We took a photo. It was a beautiful moment.”
