ŞAHIN: IT IS POSSIBLE TO PROTECT PEOPLE'S PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH AND PROTECT THEM FROM BAD HABITS WITH SPORTS.

The closing ceremony of "Karatay Summer Sports Schools", which continued for about two months, was held within the body of Karatay Municipality. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, who spoke in the program, said the following, “  Due to the projects we have realized as Karatay Municipality, we hope that our children will be successful in the Olympics, national and international organizations. I hope Karatay will become popular by raising more national athletes.” Abdurrahman Şahin, the Konya Director of Youth and Sports emphasized that sports protect the physical and mental health of the individual and underlined that Karatay Summer Sports Schools, organized within this scope, perform an important duty.

Karatay Summer Sports Schools, which were organized to help the children of Karatay to spend their summer holidays more efficiently, has ended. Within the scope of the project, training was given in ten different branches such as football, basketball, volleyball, karate, Taekwondo, gymnastics, kickboxing, table tennis, and chess.

While the trainings that started on July 5 were held at Şehit Nihat Gün Sports Facility, Cemil Keleşoğlu High School Sports Hall, Ali Ulvi Kurucu High School Sports Hall, Ulubatlı Hasan Neighbourhood's Sports Hall, and Celalettin Karatay Congress and Youth Center, the children spent a good time with different activities organized in addition to the training.

Students trained in 10 branches opened within the scope of Karatay Summer Sports Schools, their families, and many guests attended the ceremony at Şehit Nihat Gün Sports Facility, which witnessed great enthusiasm.

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, who spoke in the ceremony, reminded that they could not give any training for "Karatay Summer Sports Schools" due to the pandemic last year, and stated that they put the project into practice, although limited, this year.

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor, stated that they, the Karatay Municipality, attach great importance to sports and athletes and carried on his speech as follows: “I hope we all be vaccinated and get rid of this pandemic process together. In the coming years, we will be together in a much better way, and we will continue to bring all our children in our district together with a life full of sports. Schools shall open next week. I believe that you will continue to intertwine with sports in your education life. In this context, we, the Karatay Municipality, are exerting an effort so that you, our precious children, who are our future and everything, can do sports under much better conditions. We promised to build AstroTurf for all schools in our district. We have prepared 30 projects for our 30 schools in which the Astroturf can be installed, and we have completed eight Astroturf so far. The installation of our other Astroturf shall continue. We hope to continue providing AstroTurf to all our schools with an area for the installation of AstroTurf. Our Karatay Belediyespor Club also continues its activities in many branches. Hopefully, our club and our athletes will be a club that will become popular by raising national athletes, which will succeed many national and international organizations in the Olympics in the coming years. All our energy is for your better training and education. I would also like to thank our families who supported us on this path and contributed to their children doing sports. We will maintain to carry out our 'Karatay Summer Sports Schools' project, which introduces our children to sports by keeping them away from bad habits, makes them love sports, and allows them to improve themselves.

Abdurrahman Şahin, the Konya Provincial Director of Youth and Sports also stated that they carried out many projects as an institution and mentioned that the summer sports school project organized by the Karatay Municipality is also important in this context.

Abdurrahman Şahin said the following: Socializing and being intertwined with society is only possible with sports. If we want to protect the physical and mental health of the individual and stay away from bad habits, sports is an indispensable necessity at this point. Thanks to the summer sports schools, our children have learned to cooperate, share and compete together, while finding their callings better. I would like to thank Mr. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, who realized this beautiful project and carried it out, and all our families who made sure that their children spent their valuable time efficiently.”

After the speeches, while the students performed various shows related to the branches they trained at the Karatay Summer Sports Schools, the shows mentioned above were highly appreciated.

Finally, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Abdurrahman Şahin, the Konya Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, awarded certificates to all students trained at Karatay Summer Sports Schools, and they had a souvenir photo taken.
