CONTRIBUTION TO THE CULTURAL MEMORY OF THE SCIENTIFIC WORLD FROM KARATAY
The lives of very significant names such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibni-Sina, Es Sufi, El Birûni, Omar Khayyam, Tusi, Uluğ Bey, Ali Kuşçu, Mirim Çelebi, and Muvakkit Mustafa are explained and their contributions to the world of science are included. Selman Belekoğlu was the author of the book "Turkish-Islamic Pioneers in Astronomy" and Azime Aylin Doğan was the Editorial Director, while Gürbüz Asil was the Publishing Coordinator of this valuable work.
TODAY'S TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS ARE THE PRODUCT OF TURKISH ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION
In his statement, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, said that he is very happy to publish the work, which they consider significant in terms of introducing the scientists in the Turkish-Islamic world and the scientists who have contributed to the level that humanity has achieved today, to the new generation.
Hasan Kılca, the Mayor, emphasized that Turkish and Muslim scientists shed light on humanity with their studies in Medicine, Mathematics, Astronomy, Geography, and many other fields, and stated that almost every development in science and technology spread from the East to the West.
Hasan Kılca said, “Today, there is a misperception that the main role in science and technology comes from the West. However, it can be clearly seen that many discoveries, inventions, and studies that make our lives easier originated from the Turkish-Islamic civilization in the period from the 8th century to the 14th century. Especially in the Turkish-Islamic geographies in the periods when the said states, dominated by the Turkish-Islamic civilization, were on the rise, many scientists were trained and scientific activities were highly concentrated. Turkish Muslim scientists, who achieved important results from Mathematics to Medicine, from Astronomy to Chemistry, and many other fields, made their studies available to humanity and demonstrated themselves to the whole world in a short time.
WE OWE THIS WORK TO OUR ANCESTORS, WHO DEVOTED THEIR LIVES TO SCIENCE AND HUMANITY
Kılca, who stated that they care about the work to recognize, introduce and transfer the people who have devoted their lives to science, finished his speech as follows: “Scientists such as Tusi, Uluğ Bey, Kadızade-i Rumi, Ali Kuşçu, Mirim Çelebi, Takiyüddin, and Muvakkit Mustafa have shed light on the scientific studies that have come to the present day with their studies. In this book, we tried to introduce Turkish-Islamic scholars, their works, and their contributions to the scientific world, especially from the Karakhanids, the first Muslim Turkish state, to the last period of the Ottoman Empire. We aim to make these historical figures who have devoted their lives to science and humanity more recognized, acknowledged, and known correctly. We owe this work to our ancestors who devoted their lives to science and humanity.”
