Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, made investigations with Zafer Orhan, the Sub-governor of Karatay, in the Ancient City of Savatra, which is located in Yaglibayat District and dates back to the earliest prehistoric period. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor, who received information about the excavations and archaeological finds unearthed in the region, underlined that the ancient city of Savatra got archaeologists excited. Hasan Kılca said, “The Ancient City of Savatra is a very important gain for our Konya and our district. It will make significant contributions to the tourism of the region and our city.”
The excavation works in the Ancient City of Savatra, located in the Yaglibayat District of Karatay, continue intermittently under the direction of the Konya Museum Directorate, with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
While the discovery of new structures and finds in the ancient theater section, especially in the works carried out with the support of Karatay Municipality, excited the world of archaeology, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Zafer Orhan, the sub-governor of Karatay, also investigated the excavations carried out on site.
Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Zafer Orhan, the sub-governor of Karatay, visited the excavation site and obtained information about the excavations from Associate Professor İlker Işık, Faculty Member of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Selçuk University.
Hasan Kılca and Zafer Orhan, who also visited the section of historical artifacts and finds unearthed during the excavations, talked to Associate Professor İlker Işık, the Scientific Advisor of the excavations, about their projects to introduce the ancient city of Savatra which is an ancient settlement and played a very important role in the historical process, and to bring it to the country's tourism.

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, stated that they, the Karatay Municipality, attach great importance to the work carried out to unearth the ancient city of Savatra, which has been a significant settlement since prehistoric times.
Mayor Hasan Kılca said, “Konya is one of the most important cities in our country and even in the world with its thousands of years of history. The Ancient City of Savatra, located in our Yaglibayat Neighborhood, is full of historical ruins that enrich this feature of our city. We, the Karatay Municipality, also support the excavations in the region. I believe that the project will also be an important turning point for our Konya and Karatay to get a bigger share from the tourism cake. Again, when the project is completed, and the region is opened to tourism, it will provide significant gains to the family economies of our citizens from Yaglibayat. I want like to thank our professors from Selçuk University, their team, and all our stakeholders who supported the project.”

Zafer Orhan, the sub-governor of Karatay, also thanked everyone who contributed to the work carried out and emphasized the significance of the region.
Zafer Orhan said: “The Ancient City of Savatra was an important borderline settlement located on the outskirts of Bozdağ as a boundary in its time. The archeological finds unearthed so far from the excavations in Savatra, which was established in a very strategic location, are proof that this is a very unique and valuable city. The effort of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Selçuk University, and Karatay Municipality to re-discover such an important city is important in terms of bringing this place to tourism. I want like to thank everyone who contributed, especially our Karatay Municipality, who played a major role in the unearthing and recreation of the Ancient City.”
