KARATAY MUNICIPALITY RECEIVED AN AWARD AT THE URBAN TRANSFORMATION CONGRESS

HASAN KILCA: WE PROTECT THE HISTORICAL AND TRADITIONAL TEXTURE OF OUR DISTRICT AND CARRY IT INTO THE FUTURE

The Façade Rehabilitation project of Mahmut Dede Street, which was implemented in Akçeşme Mahallesi by Karatay Municipality to preserve the cultural identity of the district and carry it to the future, was granted an award at the "7th National Urban Transformation Congress in All Aspects" held in Istanbul.  Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, stated that they are carrying out urban transformation practices with great sensitivity. Mayor Hasan Kılca said; “We, the Municipality, are doing our part to protect the historical, cultural, and traditional identity of our district and to carry this precious heritage into the future,"

Karatay Municipality continues to serve Karatay not only with its physical and infrastructure municipal works but also with its projects that protect the social, cultural, and historical texture of the district.

Karatay Municipality's efforts and endeavours in urban transformation applications were granted an award at the "7th National Urban Transformation Congress in All Aspects" held in Istanbul by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the Urban Transformation and Urbanization Foundation.

This year, at the congress, held with the main theme of "Urban Transformation Based on Environmental Sustainability and Smart Cities" and where the works of local governments in this area were also awarded, Karatay Municipality was granted the award of “The Best Municipal Incentive for Revealing the Historical and Cultural Texture” Award to the Karatay Municipality” for its the Façade Rehabilitation Work carried out in Mahmut Dede Street, Akçeşme Neighbourhood.

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, underlined that Karatay has been going through an important transformation process, especially in the last decades, and emphasized that local governments have a big share in this regard.

Mayor Hasan Kılca said; “We, the Karatay Municipality, have always acted with an understanding of ‘on-site, fast, voluntary and value-added in our urban transformation works until today. With this principle, we proceed on our way and our work without any interruption. In this context, we, the municipality, realized a façade rehabilitation work in Mahmut Dede Street located in our Akçeşme Neighborhood. Konya houses in the region have been brought to the present and this region of our Karatay has become a historical and touristic attraction center. Granting the 'The Best Municipal Incentive for Revealing the Historical and Cultural Texture' award at the 7th National Urban Transformation Congress in All Aspects" to this project made us both happy and increased our responsibility in this field. I want to thank our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Urban Transformation and Urbanization Foundation, who granted us this award”.
