KARATAY MUNICIPALITY MAKES AN EFFORT TO INCREASE THE TOURISM POTENTIAL OF THE CITY

LEYLA ŞAHIN USTA AND MAYOR HASAN KILCA INSPECTED KARATAY MUNICIPALITY'S TOURISM WORKS ONSITE

Karatay Municipality contributes to the increase in the share of Konya and Karatay from tourism, and the preservation of the city's historical texture and heritage of thousands of years, with the projects it realized in the field of tourism, especially in recent years. Leyla Şahin Usta, the Deputy Chairman of the AK Party, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, , the Rector of Selçuk University, also examined the ongoing works with the support of Karatay Municipality in the 800-year-old historical Obruk Inn and Obruk Lake in the distal Obruk District,  and the Ancient City of Savatra in Yaglibayat district on site.

Karatay is among the significant districts of Turkey with its natural beauties as well as its historical texture. In addition to the tombs of many important personalities such as Hz. Mevlana and Şems-i Tabrizi, many hundreds of years old works within the borders of the district both add value to Karatay and are an important heritage that adorns the district from beginning to end.

800-YEAR-OLD OBRUK INN AND OBRUK LAKE ARE BEING GAINED FOR TOURISM

Leyla Şahin Usta, the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Konya Deputy, Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, the Rector of Selçuk University, Engin Dinç, the Konya Provincial Police Chief, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Mehmet Genç, the District Head of the AK Party examined the landscaping works around the 800-year-old Obruk Inn and Obruk Lake, which is right next to it, in the distal Obruk District, whose restoration works were completed by the Karatay Municipality.

After visiting Obruk Inn and Obruk Lake,  Leyla Şahin Usta, the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), and Konya Deputy, Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, the Rector of Selçuk University, Engin Dinç, the Konya Provincial Police Chief, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Mehmet Genç, the District Head of the AK Party were informed about the works carried out in the region.

EXAMINATION IN THE ANCIENT CITY OF SAVATRA UNDER EXCAVATIONS

After examining the Obruk Inn, Leyla Şahin Usta, the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), and Konya Deputy, Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, the Rector of Selçuk University, Engin Dinç, the Konya Provincial Police Chief, Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, and Mehmet Genç, the District Head of the AK Party went to the Ancient City of Savatra, which is located within the borders of Yaglibayat District.

Leyla Şahin Usta, Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Engin Dinc, Hasan Kılca, and Mehmet Genç received information about the finds unearthed during the excavations and works in the region that have been going on for a long time, from Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Işık, the Faculty Member of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Selçuk University.

Leyla Şahin Usta, the Deputy Chairman and Konya Deputy of the AK Party, stated that Karatay Municipality has carried out important works in the field of tourism and thanked Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, who contributed to the historical texture of Konya and Karatay. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, also stated that since the day they took office as a municipality, they have been trying to increase the share of Karatay and Konya from tourism, and thanked the  Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Governorship of Konya, Selçuk University, and Konya Metropolitan Municipality who supported them in these projects.
