ATIKER: AN EXEMPLARY SERVICE FOR OUR CENTRAL COUNTRY AND KONYA

Karatay Municipality brought together patients who take advantage of Karatay Alzheimer's Day Care Center and their relatives with a program organized on September 21, World Alzheimer's Day, to raise awareness of Alzheimer's in society.  Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, did stand with the patient and their relatives on this special day. Mayor Hasan Kılca underlined that the center, serving Konya since 2016, has become a very important facility for both patients and their relatives. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç, the Provincial Health Director, described the center as an exemplary facility in terms of the current situation of Turkey in the field of the social state, while Prof. Dr. Figen Güney, the President of the Konya Branch of the Turkish Alzheimer's Association emphasized that the center has been included in the literature by the World Health Organization.

Karatay Municipality organized a program at the Karatay Alzheimer Day Care Center on the occasion of the "21 September World Alzheimer's Day".

  Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç, the  Provincial Health Director of Konya,  benevolent businessman Mehmet Ali Atiker, Turkish Alzheimer's Association management, Alzheimer's patients, and their relatives attended the program.

Mayor  Hasan Kılca, Provincial Health Director Mehmet Koç, and benevolent businessman Mehmet Ali Atiker cut the cake specially prepared for the 21 September World Alzheimer's Day together with the patients and their relatives. Hasan Kılca, Mehmet Koç, and Mehmet Ali Atiker took care of the patients who take advantage of the center and their relatives one by one and talked to them for a while.

WE CONTRIBUTE TO BOTH PATIENTS AND THEIR RELATIVES

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, said that they organized the program to raise awareness about Alzheimer's on September 21, World Alzheimer's Day.

Mayor Hasan Kılca stated the following; “First of all, I wish a quick recovery to all our patients and their relatives. Our Alzheimer's Day Care Center has been serving all Alzheimer's patients in Konya since 2016. Under the leadership of our Karatay Municipality, the Center is doing useful things with the contributions of Necmettin Erbakan University, the Konya Branch of the Turkish Alzheimer's Association, our benevolent businessmen, and volunteers. We take our patients from their homes every morning with our shuttles. Our elders spend productive time at the center with a program for rehabilitation, treatment, and socialization all day. In the evening, we take our patients back to their homes with the service allocated by our municipality. With this service, we both disburden our patients' relatives and make an important contribution to the lives of our patients. I hereby would like to thank my colleagues, Necmettin Erbakan University, our professors, our association, our benevolent businessmen, and all our volunteers who have contributed to our center so far.”

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç, the Provincial Health Director of Konya, also emphasized that Alzheimer's Day Care Center is a proud facility for Turkey and Konya.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç said: “It is a proud facility for our country and city. Our elderly people are taken care of at the Alzheimer's Day Care Center. This facility is a very good example of the current situation of our country as a social state. We are happy and proud to serve our elderly here, hosted by our Karatay Municipality, in cooperation with our Health Directorate and lecturers from Necmettin Erbakan University.

AN EXEMPLARY SERVICE FOR OUR CENTRAL COUNTRY AND KONYA

Benevolent Businessman Mehmet Ali Atiker, who has contributed to the realization and continuation of the activities of the center, stated the following; “Alzheimer's Day Care Center is an exemplary service for our Konya. We met with our patients especially due to the September 21 Alzheimer's Day. This is an exemplary facility in Turkey and Konya. The Day Care Center makes a great contribution not only to Alzheimer's patients but also to their relatives. There should be more such beautiful and exemplary facilities. I would like to thank those who contributed to this beautiful facility.”

OUR CENTER IS INCLUDED IN THE LITERATURE BY THE W.H.O

Prof. Dr. Figen Güney, the President of the Konya Branch of the Turkish Alzheimer's Association, talked about the importance of Alzheimer's Day Life Center.

Stating that the center has been serving Konya since 2016, Figen Güney said, “Our center has been serving our city since 2016 with the support of Karatay Municipality, Necmettin Erbakan University, Konya Provincial Health Directorate, and volunteers, and our benefactors.  The people of Konya are also very interested in our center where we serve about 100 patients. Both patients and their relatives are very pleased with our center. I hope the number of such centers will increase even more. Our center has been included in the literature by the World Health Organization. In 2018, our center was chosen as an exemplary project among its examples in eight countries around the world.”

The relatives of the patients taking advantage of the Karatay Alzheimer's Day Care Center also talked about the importance of the center for them and their patients. Relatives of the patients emphasized that the Alzheimer's Day Care Center is a great service for them and their patients, and thanked everyone who contributed to the realization of the Alzheimer's Day Care Center and its activities.
