Organic jam, ice cream, Turkish delight, soda pop, oil, soap, and cologne obtained from Karatay Lavenders highly won recognition from everyone in a short period of time. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, stated that Karatay Lavender, which has become one of the new brands of Konya and Karatay, made them very happy and said, "Karatay Lavender contributes to both tourism and the economy."
Karatay Municipality has acquired various products from the lavenders of the Karatay Lavender Garden, laid out on an area of 400,000 square meters in Karaaslan Üzümcü District. Karatay's Lavender, frequently preferred by sectors such as medicine, food, and cosmetics, has been used as a raw material in producing soap, cologne, ice cream, soda pop, cream, and jam.
The said products, obtained from Karatay Lavender, whose product range is increasing each passing day, are promoted in events such as fairs, festivals, and publicity days organized all over Turkey in addition to Konya. Lavender products, which also contributed to the economy, sold at the said events attended by Karatay Municipality and became the favourite of the citizens and the new brand of Konya and Karatay in a short time.
Products made from the Karatay Lavenders can be purchased by the citizens from the Lavender Buffet opposite the Karatay Lavender Garden, as well as the Karatay Kafes and the Karatay Thermal Holiday Village brought to the district by the Karatay Municipality.
WE GET MULTIPLE PRODUCTION FROM LAVENDER WITH HIGH-ADDED VALUE
Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, said that Karatay Lavender, a new color for Karatay, and Lavender products are the new favorites of citizens.
Mayor Hasan Kılca, who stated that Karatay Lavender Garden, which they laid out in Karaaslan Üzümcü District, is one of the new attraction centers of the region with its visuality, underlined that they also contribute to the economy with the oil, jam and ice cream, soda pop and many other products they obtain from Karatay Lavender.
Hasan Kılca said: “We continue to devise projects that will add value to our Konya and our district. We are a district with different riches, unique beauties, and productive and fertile lands. Being aware of this, we started our efforts to lay out the largest lavender garden in Turkey in 2019. The said area we worked on was previously occupied and covered with rubble. We used to create our Karatay Lavender Garden in an area of 400,000 square meters, and our garden, which is beyond comparison was created. Our garden contributes not only to visuality but also to the economy. For example, we manufacture products such as soap, cologne, ice cream, soda pop, cream, and jam from the lavender of our garden. Our products, which are produced using traditional methods and without using any chemical preservatives or flavorings, highly won recognition. We, the Karatay Municipality, also aim to be a leader for our farmers through this project. We have made significant progress in this regard as well.”
