PRODUCT DIVERSITY INCREASES IN KARATAY LAVENDER

KARATAY WOMEN PRODUCE LAVENDER SOAP AND CANDLES

Karatay Municipality, which led to the emergence of a new brand by producing ice cream, jam, Turkish delight, soda pop, oil, and cologne from Lavender until today, has also started to produce natural lavender soap and decorative candles. With the “Atölye Karatay" (Workshop Karatay) project of the Karatay Municipality, which was realized in the district, it has increased the product range which is produced from lavender and created a new economic value for Konya and Karatay.

Karatay Municipality, which continues its efforts to contribute to the economic life of Karatay women as well as their socialization, has carried out another new project. It was started to produce Natural Lavender soap and decorative candles within the scope of the "Workshop Karatay" project, which initiated under the coordination of the Karatay City Council Women's Assembly.

Sultan Melike Bozoğlan from the Department of Agricultural Services's Training Unit, Konya Metropolitan Municipality, provided detailed training to the women from Karatay involved in the project, from the properties of Lavender to the products that can be produced from the said plant and the production stages before production.

Following the training, women from Karatay began to produce lavender soap and decorative candles three days a week at the "Atölye Karatay" in the Sedirler Social Facilities, thus creating a new economic value for Konya and Karatay.

The “Atölye Karatay” project, which was initiated with the production of lavender soap and decorative candles, shall expand further in the coming periods and the product range shall increase even more. The products to be manufactured in the workshop will start to be sold at Karatay Thermal Holiday Village, Kafe Karatays, and Karatay Buffets.

OUR WORK IS PROGRESSING VERY WELL

 

Fazilet Koçyiğit, the President of Karatay City Council Women's Assembly, who explained the "Atölye Karatay" project and its details, stated that the works were progressing very well and thanked Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Karatay, who greatly contributed the realization of the project.

She emphasized that Karatay Municipality provided workshops and all the support with the project, which helped Karatay women both socialize and contribute to their family economy, and said;  “Our women produce lavender soap and candles with our ongoing project in our Sedirler Social Facilities. Our work performed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is progressing very well. Here, women both socialize and have a pleasant time. We, the Karatay City Council Women's Assembly, will continue to stand by our women.

WE SEE THE PRODUCTIVITY OF OUR LAVENDER GARDENS IN EVERY FIELD

Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Karatay, underlined that as a municipality, they continue to implement all kinds of projects that will improve themselves and support them economically in order to include women in all areas of life.

Mayor Hasan Kılca said; “We, the Karatay Municipality, also carry out studies for women to be more involved in social, cultural, and economic life. In this context, the 'Atölye Karatay' project was implemented under the coordination of our Karatay City Council Women's Assembly. Women turn the raw material obtained from the lavenders of our Karatay Lavender Gardens into soap and candles with the program. Our women are doing really good work. With this project, they both contribute to the family economy by acquiring a profession, and the products produced add new economic value to our city and district. We are also very happy to see the productivity and increasing abundance of our Lavender Gardens, which we brought to our district, in many areas. We, the Karatay Municipality, will continue to contribute to our women, economy, and employment.”
